I'm going to upgrade my Graphics card this month. A few facts about my PC useage.

At this present moment I run a Asus GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

My Current display is 26'' Bush HDTV 1280 x 960 (720p) (If I go any higher my screen goes funny and looks weird)

I can run all my games (GRID, G.O.W, Team Fortress 2, Fear & The SIms 2) maxed out at 1280 x 960 Res with FPS over 35

My Motherboard is not the best I know but I do own a Asus Striker II Formula 780i (This is beening used as my play around motherboard)

I have came up with 4 Solutions

1st) Buy another Asus GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

2nd) Get a BFG GTX 260 OC 896MB
(If I done this I will use it and save up some more cash to buy another and SLI them in my Asus Striker II Formula 780i)

3rd) Get a EVGA GTX 260 896MB
(If I done this I will use it and save up some more cash to buy another and SLI them in my Asus Striker II Formula 780i)

4th) Buy a EVGA Geforce 9800 GTX 512MB (Why why why)

any help would be great

Another 8800 GTS, assuming you have the G92 version. If not then I'd go with a 4870.

780i not one of the best right now? My god what are you on...

I don't see a point to go Sli because you are at a pretty low resolution. You might get a slight bonus of a couple of fps.

The GTX 260 options are pretty good, the OC one is probably better as at 720p more Mhz is better than another card. Choose the OC one.

I don't know why you put that option of 9800GTX there. THere is the 9800GTX+ etc...

I am assuming you know that everythings price is going to drop a lot in the next few weeks to month. Then would be the best time to buy graphics cards.

Hope I help.

At 1280x960 I'm surprised that G92 is even being tickled at the moment. There really aren't any games that should be giving it much trouble.

That what I was thinking. Should I buy i 22'' Monitor 1680 x 1080 and put PC in bed room because at the moment I use my living room TV

A 22" will be more challenging for your settup although your 8800GTS should still breeze through eveything except Crysis and World in Conflict. If you can you should overclock your processor more. The difference in CoD4 with 3.2Ghz and 3.6Ghz is massive!

I'm kind of restricted because my mobo is @#&? at overclocking quads. Should I get a 19'' display 1440 x 950.

Whats your budget? I got myself a 2253LW for $299AUS. For you I think a 20" or bigger is good.

I'd honestly say with your resolution....your current 8800GTS 512MB isn't even being CLOSE to being touched yet. I'd say upgrade your monitor to something 1680x1050 (22" give or take), and just forget about a new card for now. Upgrade your card when you have to actually start turning settings down . And currently (other than Crysis to my knowledge), there's nothing out that you shouldn't be able to max out.

Just my $0.02 though. I run an 8800GTS 512MB on a Socket 939 rig and can play anything I want maxed out because I'm only at 1440x900 (19" Widescreen)...other than Crysis. And even that I can play fluidly just fine on all stock high settings .

So I'd say upgrade your monitor. That res is just STARVING that poor 8800. It wants to use its power...but your res just isn't letting it!
