Will a C2D E4400 Bottleneck a HD 4850? - Page 2

Hmm i wonder how many people actually read the posts/article instead of reading title and posting the obvious answer :O

i think it will bottleneck you a little bit but not that much. im guessing about 10% bottleneck average? and less bottleneck if you use high resolutions

Yeah I know, I love how people actually read the threads, lol.

Simple answer to the OP:
No, your stock e4400 WILL NOT "bottleneck" your new card. Enjoy it. You won't see as high of a 3DMark score as say a Quad 6600 at 3.6GHz....but that doesn't mean you're bottlenecking. Get your new card and enjoy it.

Take a look at my sig rig. You'd think a 6 year old AMD Socket would bottleneck that 8800GTS G92, huh? Well it doesn't except in 3DMark scores....BIG DEAL! I don't sit and game on 3DMark, now do I?

Now if you DO in fact check out that BSEL mod, that's a VERY good way to get yourself some more performance without spending more than a few dollars. If it doesn't work out for you (if you did it right), you just erase the conductive ink . If you do use that BSEL mod, it'll put you up to 2.66GHz...which is 100% acceptable on your stock voltages and cooler. So it IS in fact worth looking into.

Just my $0.02. But DEFINITELY get yourself the new card if you feel you need it. A nice shiny new video card is ALWAYS worth it if you game.

@slick: i did it to my e4400. its pretty simple, and if you screw up, just wipe it up with rubbing alcohol and you're good. wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, I don't think some of you clearly read my post. However, I think I will attempt performing the BSEL mod and see what happens.
