CD burners going crazy!

okay i have tried about every cd program there is to burn my cd's have tried my dvd burner and my cd burner both. when i first installed Ubuntu i could burn cd's no problem. then all of the sudden K3b messed up and i haven't been able to burn cd's since. i start the burning then it just stalls there for about a minute or two then spits out my cd and says failed im trying to get back to XP but ubuntu wont let me

yes brasero k3b and GnomeBaker same thing on all start burn, dont actually burn anything, then just spit out and says failed

try going back to manufacturers website and flash dvd-rom firmware... they all have one

have you tried reinstalling dvd drive drivers, or maybe the software?

If K3B used to work and suddenly stopped, this means one of two things:

1) You have since installed some packages that broke your ability to burn CD's. Look back and see what packages you have installed since k3b stopped working.

2) You have some hardware problem.

Since both of your burners don't work, it seems you don't have a hardware problem. You have some package you installed that screwed it up.
