Whats the best brand of HDTV? - Page 2

What is your price range? With a little bargaining, I managed to buy my 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma for less than the price of a 32" Bravia LCD, and I can say without a doubt it is a much better product. Burn in is significantly less of an issue with the newer generations of plasma, and it also doesn't suffer from ghosting (something I saw even in the $4000 Bravia LCDs). Blacks (and colours in general) are also much nicer than on LCDs.

Your best bet would be to haggle, if you go to a smaller independant store (one that actually knows how to set the TVs up for a good picture, instead of Best Buy or Circuit City crap) you can get some incredible deals.

If you are looking strictly for LCDs (I wouldn't suggest it), Samsung has decent LCD TVs and Sony has some of the best. I only saw one Sharp TV that I somewhat liked, and even then I wasn't impressed. Unfortunately, all of these are still restricted by the limitations of LCD technology, I highly suggest you look at a plasma instead.

The undisputed king, however, is the Pioneer Elite plasma series. If you have the money to invest, the Pioneer Elite will serve you well.

another thing to note is how much ambient light is in your room as LCD's absorb ambient light much better then Plasma's. So if its a very bright room you might want to consider a lcd as it will have much less glare.

That depends on the actual screen. My Sony LCD has a matte screen so there's virtually no glare, but my Samsung LCD has a glass screen and is almost mirror like. Glass screens lead to better picture though, so it's a trade off.

You really won't have much of a choice. At that size though it won't make much of a difference.

Samsung, LG, and Sony are pretty good. I myself have a Samsung 46 1080p LCD TV. I got the 2nd to the top of the line and it rocks socks.
