Best cans for <$75? - Page 2

You could go for their older sibling, the K81DJ.

As far as I can tell, the only difference is color.

Here are the K81 DJ's on Amazon. I purchased mine from here a couple of months ago. While they sound GREAT, they're really snug.

I have a bit of a large noggin so that doesn't help things. I found that putting the headphones over something (a computer case works well) stretches laterally but the top of the headband presses down on top of my head pretty badly. You can stretch it that way by squeezing the headband together and making it a little bit cone shaped. Or you could just wear them with the strap behind your head, which is what I've resorted to doing.

At any rate, they're only $58 with free shipping.

Edit: Dammit - you guys beat me to it.

I meant that they are no longer sold by AKG. The ones being sold by Amazon are leftovers.

Well I'm about to purchase those K18 DJs... are they really the same thing as the K518s only in silver? Considering I'm willing to spend up to $75 are these $58 cans really the best <$75 headphones?

Well, if you don't mind used, more options open up. Not sure how the MDR-V6 and A500 hold up against the K81s but a new V6 and an used A500 should be well within your price range. The downside is that the A500s are rather large, so they probably won't be too great to carry around. The K81s are supra-aural, which I'm not a big fan of.

If you don't mind increasing your budget by a little bit, you can get some good cans for home and some portable cans as well. The Koss KSC-75s are still popular and are great headphones, though they are clip-ons.

aww... I just realized that those K18 DJs are supra aural ... I was really looking to find some circumaural ones that allowed for better noise cancellation and comfort

Any suggestions?

Sorry for the double post, but despite my wanting circumaural headphones... I would still consider the AKG K18DJ if they're decent at blocking out noise... any takes on that feature?

The Pook had them for a while - you might want to send him a PM.

Okay... I guess I'll be looking for circumaural headphones... I've tried on a few supra-aural and circumaural headphones and definitely prefer the snugness/feel and noise cancelation of circumaurals

Suggestions guys?
