Sorry I was stating the obvious regarding the AGP card, yes I was aware.

I didn't think it was a bad system for $729. And at newegg the 22" ACER (one of the cheapest models, ws $219).

New Egg has my monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824176077) for $229. I paid $199, not bad, IMO.

Thanks again everyone.
Actually, you could build a better system for $500-$600.

Lets say I went with the above recommendation (either the 8800GTS or the 4850).

What type of score jump would I see? If I am currently at 6-7k, what do you think it would jump to (keeping in mind 5gb ram, phenom x4 9550, etc..)

10k with a 4850 I'd guess.

I figured, but I did look at newegg for prices, and came up with something like this (these $$'s are from memory, I am likely off a bit):

9550 - $190
5gb - $100
MB - $80
750HDD - $150
9300GS/8400GS - $35
Case - $35
PSU - $60
Media Reader - $20
Wireless Network card - $40
Vista 64 Premium - $200
DVD/CD Writer - $30

Over $900, and I didn't have to build it

Not to mention the included speakers, keyboard, mouse, and $30 off the monitor. Plus a one year warranty on the system (from HP - which I have had at least a half a dozen desk/lap tops in my life, with nothing but a great experience from support). Bought locally (in NH) no sales tax, no shipping.

For someone not all that "screwdriver-inclined" I thought it wasn't bad.

I thought the proc/gpu could be? I experimented with my last HP's GPU (7900GS) with some oc software and was able to OC a bit.

Maybe with software, but you can be assured that you won't get even close to your CPU's full potential without the mobo manufacturer's bios! HP's have an edited Bios that do not allow the mobo and CPU to really shine!

That's a weird computer...

Why'd you buy it anyways? You should've built one yourself.

Probably, just looking to save some money, have a good warranty and have a decent computer that I can upgrade over time.

I guess I could have pieced one together, as that's the general consensus here. But I opted for the "easy road" I guess.

The only thing weird about it that I can tell is the 5gb memory - most I was researching was either 2,3 or 4. This was the only 5 that I found. Didn't think it was a bad thing. And for the graphics card, 95% of the computers I researched had integrated. Figured this card would put me in a better place until I could afford an upgrade.

Processor I was impressed with after reading the stats... can't really afford the Q at this point.
