Video encoding will be a lot faster. You won't notice a huge increase in game performance, as most games are heavily dependent on the GPU. Multitasking will be a lot faster too.

maybe you shoudl just get the new mobo first, then try to overclock that E4500. Get whatever potential you can get out of that CPU. If its not enough, then buy a new CPU.

For sure that clock speed is inhibiting the potential of the 8800GT

could you suggest a good overclocking mobo for around £100 or $200 at a uk site?
pref Nvidia chip set i think

*edit* how is the 680i at overclocking? or would it be worth it buying a 780i mobo

Intel chipsets are much better at overclocking. The p35 and p45 chipsets are excellent if you don't need a Crossfire setup.

IMO, 8800GT is still one of excellent G92 GPUs at the amazing price. If you have 19" LCD or do 1280x1024 at moderated settings, it is still fine.

i have about £230 to spend this friday on a new cpu and mobo so what woudl you suggest?

i dont mind if its intell or Nvidia as i don't have plans to do Cf or sli till it improves the performance alot






oh i forgot im running at 1920x1200 resolution at 23" samsung monitor
