AMD Athlon 4400+ X2 PROBLEM

Thread Starter
My New AMD Athlon 4400+ X2 clock is supposedly 2.3 GHZ (200*11.5) , hence multiplier =11.5 but at instance its just 11x and its the max in the bios. Anyone knows why ? its really annoying me !!!!

And i would like to get starting with OCing after solving this problem , also any suggestions are welcome.

I Have Some OC experience : AMD SEMPRON 3400+ AM2 @ 1800 to @2520 ROCK STABLE ON STOCK COOLING

Thanks in Advance !!!!

Hey, welcome to OCN.

you say 11 is the highest multi available to you? Try updating the bios.

As for OCin, you should be able to get this somewhere around 3GHz pretty easy.

What is CPU-z saying?

Maybe your BIOS just doesnt have the option to change decimals as mentioned above.

As long as CPU-Z is saying its 11.5 and your clock speed is 11.5, its probably just the BIOS.

-edit- Also, if you can, fill out your system specs in your User CP for people to help better understand your issue.

Good luck

Well, i'm not 100% sure that its the bios, but seeing how CPU's are never locked, it seemed like a good guess.

so it wont let you set the multi to anything other than a whole number? As a side note, when you get into OC'in it, its probably not gonna be a big deal anyway, seeing how alot of times you'll get a better OC with a high FSB and a lower multi anyway.

If you could fill out your system specs that would help out some, that way people could know exactly what you're running on. ( its under "usercp" on the left hand side)

Yeah go fill out Your Specs sowe can see MoBo. i got my AMD 4400+ to 3.27 GHZ easy and its stable after 6 hours of Prime95. Yeah also check CPU-Z

you try to update the BIOS yet?.... or maybe try clearing the CMOS... it couldn't hurt.

And yes, this place rocks... why go somewhere that the people only fix computers, here at OCN people push everything to its limits, and therefore know how to fix all sorts of the weird problems that occur.

Is Cool N Quiet disabled? Although its probably not the problem it could be contributing to it. If it isnt, disable it in BIOS and check again. If you cant find it in BIOS or to quick check if thats the problem, heres what to do:

(Dang not sure if you got vista or XP)
FOR XP:
1. Go to Control Panel (category view)
2. Performance and Maintenance
3. Power Options
4. Select Home/office in the drop down menu, click apply, and check if it made a difference in CPU-z.

FOR VISTA:
Go to:
1. Control PAnel (category view)
2. Performance and maintenance
3. Power options
4. Choose High Performance and see if it made a difference with CPU-Z.

If they didnt make a difference CnQ isnt the problem :S, and you can set it back.
