New system next week

Thread Starter
Hi, I am getting a new system next week and would to overclock the CPU. I am going to use Microsoft Flight Sim X as my main game and want to get some more speed out of the Q9300 ,but do it safe. I have never overclocked a computer before and want to go slow so I don't blow the thing up! This site looks great with info and I hope I can get some help with this. Also is there a software program to use instead of the BIOS to make changes? Thanks for any help,
Greg

I would always stay away from Overclocking software.
Always always do it in the BIOS.

Go to best buy and ask the geek squad for a bottle or two of LN2.

$20, best overclock ever!

But seriously, that system ought to handle Flight Sim X very well. Read up on some of the overclocking guides posted around here so you have a pretty good idea of what to expect from your processor/motherboard and you should be all set.

I second what ImortalKenny said about overclocking software. It never works well and usually it destabilizes the system.
Here's a great guide for a first time overclocker.
