With my prelude I cannot use my mic.. It is stuttering all the time, calls with skype etc... voice recording...

Its just plain stuttering.

mine is doing exactly that!, i made a post a bit earlier than yours and sounds exactly the same. sometimes its picks up the speed of choppyness depending on the sample rate i change it too.

I see your running vista 64 ultimate like i am and im assuming thats a sound blaster card yes? then we have a card from eh same company with the same OS and same symptoms. When you have a fresh boot of your PC does it chop like that?

and mine works when i start a microphone required application within 20 minutes of a fresh boot. usually any time after that i must reboot.

have you tried any alternative drivers that may be in your favor and not mine? not advertising but 3d guru has some collection of alternatively made drivers for some sound cards including many sound blaster series

I use the prelude though so I need the drivers with dolby stuff.

My stuttering also changes when I change the sample rate.

This is still happening guys. Any ideas?

I just changed the sample rate in the windows recording devices control panel to the max 96Khs / 24bit and its perfect but after a reboot this will change I think.

I can seem to fix this by changing the sample rate but then after about 20 mins of convo on steam, I accidentily closed the convo and when I re opened it, my mic wasn't picking up any sound at all?

I really cant work this out... I think its something to do with the sample rate and the "Let applications take control of this devide" control.

Changed Drivers again, done like 1 million OS reinstalls, updated BIOS but still the same problem.

This definately has to be a card issue. I have already been given an RMA number and once I get the new card, I may even just sell it and make space for a third 280.

Honestly.... This sound card has got to be the most Un-amazing £120 I have ever spent.
