Heading to college...upgrade my rig? - Page 2

First of all, what are the specs on your RAM? You say one stick failed. Instead of purchasing a new set, couldn't you RMA both sticks? G.Skill = Lifetime warranty

G.SKILL PC2-6400 CL5-5-5-15 2.0-1V 1GB each.

Right now I am down to one stick. I figure I might as well just buy a 2x2GB set and be done with it. Can you recommend a set compatible with my MB?

It doesn't matter if your board "supports" up to 800 ram. The 1066 ram will work just fine, it will just underclock to 800. That is better in the long run, since a high overclock of the cpu will be able to achieved at a 1:1 ratio, since the ram is so fast.

Yes your motherboard supports this RAM, and I'm recommending it as well if you choose to go this route. The 4850 is also a great choice.

P.S. OC your Q6600 and it will last for a long while.

I have an E6600, dual core. I think I can get it up to about 3.2, and that should last me until I get out of college.
