AMD : always pushing the newest technologies. Although it seems kind of silly to be pushing a new PCIE update so soon. Didn't we just get PCIE2?...

It is very nice to see AMD get their chip set and graphics divisions house back in order and quite expeditiously I might add after the buyout. I am purely speculating here but I do see real trouble on the horizon for Intel. Now that AMD has a very serious source of revenue outside of CPU's they can turn their attention to getting their CPU side in order again and now have more operating capital to be able to spend some more on R&D. I knew it would only be a matter of time until the clutter that was AMD/ATI turned into an efficient and highly capable AMD. There is no more ATI the company is called AMD. ATI only stays due to brand recognition. Now lets see what they can do with 32nm with a little extra cash and some help from a friend (IBM). Lets not forget they are sharing info on 32nm with their technology partners of which AMD is one. Its gonna be sweet for about the next 15 years for us tech heads.

Don't get too confident on their spending power. They will need a good bit of time to pay off the loan needed to buy ATI (company costed a pretty 4billion i believe.) And that's a major drain on their funds at the moment. But I'm sure it is paying for itself since HD4K is doing so well.

Not sure what half of it means though.
The impact it will have on mobo manufacturers is actually going to be bigger than the impact on the consumers since they are adopting several of the technologies natively on the SB. If you look at the current SB, the SB700/SB750 does not include an eternet controller, clock generator, and embedded controller. The new SB800 finally has those features on die so it makes it cheaper for the mobo manufacturer since it doesn't have to buy separate eternet controllers, clock generators, and embedded controllers. They also no longer have to worry about soldering, tracing, and connecting those parts with the SB so mobo designs should become simplier and less cluttered.

While it doesn't say anything about how it is going to be fabbed, I'm hoping that it is on 45/40nm to maintain its power efficiency.
