Heatsink advise - Page 2

Well - the P182 has excellent airflow - especially with the optional fans installed. You will have a top and rear 120mm exhaust..and the ability to install 2 middle HDD rack 120mm fans...as well as a lower HDD rack 120mm fan. Not to mention that you have an excellent cable management system to get all of those cables out of the way.

Airflow will not be a problem...so you don't necesarily need to spenda ton on the Heatsink. Save a couple of bucks and get the Zigmatek...

By itself the TRUE isn't that much more expensive anymore. At Directron, it's 5 bucks more than the Vendetta. However with the extra cost of a decent fan, you could expect to pay near 65-70 bucks.

Another thing to consider here is that you are going 45nm. The best of the best cpu coolers are not necessarily needed, depending on how high you push the cpu.

Yeah I think the xigmatek should be a good heat sink for what I need especially since I'm getting a P182 aswell. I'm still confused on what fans to get. I will replace the one on the xigmatek and also get a couple for the case but there's so many it's hard to choose. I need it to be as near to silent as possible but still shift a decent amount of air. Any suggestions?

Many people would suggest the Noctua fans, but they are just rebranded Yate Loon Low speeds. I would suggest buying the Low Speed Yate Loons. Only buy them from Petras, as those are the only real ones.

Here.

Some other good ones are listed in my Ultimate Air cooling thread. Check it out in my sig, I have multiple low noise/low speed fans listed.

Thanks, your ultimate cooling thread was a good read.

I live in the UK so can't buy the late yoons from Petras as they don't ship abroad. I think I'll go with the 1200rpm sleepstreams instead which you recommended in your cooling thread. They look like good fans.

Do you think the fans in the P182 will need replacing aswell?

The Antec Tri-Cools are a pretty decent fan. With the 3-speed selection - you can acheive silence or maximum cooling...I wouldn't bother replacing them as I think it would be a waste of money to do so.

Ok so I'll go with the xigmatek heat sink and a couple of 1200rpm slipstreams. Thanks everyone for the help.

What's your view on nexus fan's? I can get them a bit cheaper then the slipstreams and heard they perform quite well.
