Its not really a matter of a min stable tRD but what is allowed via math tRD lol. At DDR2-951mhz I really have had no luck lowering the CAS to 4 and getting it to boot at any lower tRD.

Anyway here is a little something that I got from a different post on ASUS ROG Boards in General.

This is my Current settings for my 4.05ghz overclock. Untill I do the AS5 swap on the NB and such I don't really want to push her any more. With the NB at 1.55v (1.56 Windows) it locked up on my twice while under heavy 3D Graphics. (Once ATI Space Screensaver and Once EVE Online). Since bringing it up to 1.57 (1.58-1.60 Windows) she has gotten a tad warmer but has yet to lock up since and the temps are still a warm but better then pre Spotcool max of 61C.

The formula only states what is possible, it does not guarantee stability. Going under it is supposedly impossible but even meeting it may at some times require further adjustments.

At any rate with that CL of 5 you won't be getting tRD 7 no matter what you try. You appear to have reached the optimal values for this setup.

I know that I should have been able to do much better with my RAM and board, but I was running tRD 7 clock twist moderate with my RAM running 1069MHz, the lowest divider always gave me problems. Whenever I wanted to go to a higher FSB and had to switch down to that lowest divider it caused chaos. I feel like that 1:2 divider is a big fat mess.

And nada... Powers up, lights same as my maximus formula that bit the big one, but hangs after init rom when it hits CMOS ERR, which obviously is a bad thing. Never did get this thing to post, got it from the egg open box, looks to have never been used, but didn't need accessories since the hardware is identical to my maximus formula. Any advice besides the typical "RMA"? Need to know if I should waste any more time on this thing or not. Will leave the cmos battery out overnight and give it a whirl again in the morning. Sucks cuz I just got an MCP655 water pump, 1/2" ID hose and new barbs for the 3x120 radiator, processor and the swiftech reservoir, and got the air out of it and everything. That pump sure does beat the stock thermaltake I used to have!!! Anyway, advice on the CMOS ERR would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas!

What's with leaving the battery out "overnight"? Take battery out, flip switch, wait 10 seconds, flip switch back, put battery back in.

I've done the ol take the battery out after disconnecting all power deal and have been recommended to leave it out for longer, overnight was just a convenience. Anyway, I removed the 4870's, installed an x1050 with analog and get it to boot up, change settings in bios and am in windows again (since the maximus and rampage are "identical" hardware, no need to reinstall). Have the x1050 running dvi, but the 4870's still nothing, one card has D601 LED and fans @ 100%, the other (by itself also) will light D1603, D1601, and D1602. Crazy thing is, these things worked great before removing them, not sure what happened to be honest. Will test in another machine and see what happens I guess, and YES I have verified I have the twin 6 pin connectors attached to each of the cards. The system will boot now, just no video on the screen unless I have the X1050 installed! =\\

I'm having the EXACT same problem, but only with the Rampage II Extreme, and GTX 295. When i put the ATI X800XT in, everything works fine. I got an RMA number for the 295... but i'd like to see this resolved... perhaps it's an issue with the board...

I set up an RMA for the board (refund) through newegg, and both 4870's. I'll probably sell them and get the 295, the new case is cram packed as it is, need to go back to just one card until finances are better! Now my rampage won't even boot at all, power button, and nada. Heard two pops and it's dead now, so something obviously happened. Oh well. =\\

Welp, advance rma'd the rampage, regular RMA'd the maximus formula SE, and rma'd both 4870s. Obviously went something "snapped" on the rampage, the cards got it too, cuz now they've got led's on the back. Niiiiceeee... =)
