Time for new video card.

Thread Starter
I got around $300 ( I can go a bit higher )

To spend on a new video card(s).

You can see my current system in my signature.
I'm starting to get lag and I get occasional crashes when watching videos.
I was thinking maybe some of you guys could help me pick a nice video card that will last me for a long time.

THANKS!

I bought my 9800GTX off NewEgg for 209, and it's still around that price. Go for it.

I WAS JUST looking at the 9800gxt cards on newegg. They look pretty nice. Do you think my PSU will handle it well? I've also read some reviews on newegg and people have been saying that their CPU is bottlenecking their video card, will that be the case for me if I DO get the 9800GTX?

HD4870 is the best card at $300.

You can also do 8800GT SLI for $300 is you want NVIDIA.
Once again...

Definitely get a HD4870

I reccomend going with 9800GTX as you have a 790i motherboard. WAIT for the 9800GTX+ to come out. It's just a die shrink of the GPU, but will also be overclocked, and consume less power for around $230

Your CPU (if it's at 3.0+) will do just fine with the 9800GTX, no bottlenecks. Also, your PSU will run that card will no problems at all. I run a similar card, the 8800GTS 512, off of a PC P&C 610. Runs fine, no problems. I think if you can find a GTX for under 220 go for that, but if not go with a 4870 like Duckie suggested. Good luck with your upgrade!

I was looking at the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130348.

Any suggestions? Will it be better to SLI 8800GT cards or get 1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130348 and then SLI another one down the road?
