The thing about 4870X2 is that it will perform 15% better then xfire 4870 + it will cost 500$ which is 100$ less then 4870 2x300=600 and lastly you will not need a new MB so you can run xfire so that saves money for you. If you cant wait then get a 4850 for now and sell it to get the 4870X2.

Doesn't make any sense as 9800GX2 is two 8000GTS SLI together. We all know Crysis does not scale well with SLI/Crossfire.

Allegedely, according to some of the sites ive visited, there is about a 10fps increase with these new drivers. I havent seen anyone else, except for farmer2, that has had such an increase on crysis, but I want to confirm this for myself. I am going to try and download them tonight and see if this is true. If its not, I think I might go with the gtx 280. Since he and I have the almost identical system, I think Ill try and do the runs tonight and post my results and see if this is true (I really hope it is but I dont hold my breathe).

Now - 4870 (its hard for me to vote for ATI, but price/performance its the best single gpu card out) the GX2 is a fine card, also has geforce PhysX support with current 177 drivers, and I was unaware of it being discountinued..

if you can wait, see what the 9800GTX+ and 4870X2 are like and if the prices of the current 2X0GTX drop at all
