Why does everyone spend so much money on their machine just to stuff a single 320GB SATA in it? I don't think I could ever run off just that! At a bare minimum I would run one of the following:

OPTION A
WD Raptor 150 X C:
WD 500GB D:

OPTION B
Seagate 1TB 32MB Cache C:/D:
(The new 1TB drives are very quick!)

OPTION C
2 x WD x Raptor 36GB RAID0 C:
2 x Seagate 250GB RAID0 D:
1.5TB GIGE NAS RAID5 E:
(This is what I am running now)

Those AAKS drives are plenty fast, and rival a Raptor in terms of bandwidth (not in terms of Access times of course). And 320GB is more than enough for an average gaming rig. Note that this is only an $1,200 rig... Raptors come only in the picture for me at around $2,000. They're a little bit faster, but not *that* much anymore (and they're getting quite outdated). Plus, a single drive is much more forgiving when you change to another platform (and the chipset of the new board doesn't recognize your current RAID array).

We're talking about a mid-range gaming rig here, and high-performance (Expensive!) drives don't really have a place here.

Here's what I would do.

I just edited Chozart's post because he already had most of the stuff I would have used.

Also, I bolded the things I changed.
