too little, too late, tbh, and it won't work for us UKers.

and there i was thinking i could get a pretty convincing reason to step up to a GTX 260...

I think $90 is about the most they can drop the price of the chips. An amazing 4800 series combined with reports of 40% or lower silica yeilds means the guys in green are in for a rough patch.

And that's not an MSRP drop, that's just to nvidias manufacturing partners.

Yeah, I don't really feel sorry for people who buy the newest whatever (video card, motherboard, phone, ipod) the first day it comes out. Then they are all pissed the prices drop right after they buy it. They have a term in technology for "early adopters". It's called a repeal on the nerd tax.

I always wait for a revision or two. Or a few price drops.

If I can get 2 for $500 each I would... Just for the simple fact one 4870 isn't enough for me and I would have to build a whole new setup which I'm not in the mood for and they are a pretty big bump over my GTXs.
I just don't think thats enough of a price drop considering how ATI is back on track with the 4850/4870. They would need to drop it to the 4870 and 4850 price levels but thats impossible.
Ill wait still, my 8800GTX is still going strong touch wood.
