Trouble OCing on my p5n32-e SLI, help

Thread Starter
I am trying to OC my e6600 on a p5n32e-SLI that I just bought. I went to the p5n32e thread and put in all the settings they recommended, however I don't see where it shows what BIOS I am on. The one thing I am unsure of is what to put my RAM at, at the moment I have them linked and synced but whenever I try to OC I go back to the bios and the ram is put back on auto and my cpu is back to 2.4 I am not sure what I am doing wrong =/

I unlinked, I put the FSB at 1175 with 1.4vcore and the computer starts up fine and when I open CPUz it shows the e6600 at stock settings still. When I restart and go back into BIOS (version 1404) It has the ram back to auto instead of unlinked and my fsb back to stock. The other settings in the other tabs are what I had before though so it didn't restore everything to default.

When coming out of BIOS press F10 and you will be asked for a save prompt, say yes.

Otherwise try updating bios
Maybe replace the motherboard battery...

After trying all of that I might be tempted to RMA, ifs it broken get someone to fix it is what i sometimes say.

make sure that all intel high tech stuff are diabled , like speed step, C1 state etc. all so disable all sped spectrum stuff. i had the same mobo with the 1404 bios. i didn't gave me any problems when i oc'ed the E6750. i too followed the official thread and that was a great help for me.

crap, apparantly no one else has our problem. this is definitely a bios issue and there is no need to RMA. you guys out there dont understand. its not because we arent saving when we quit. its not because of a bad cmos battery. all other settings remain (such as voltages and speedstep, system time, etc) except those in the most important menu. if i change my ram speed to 800, unlinked, and change all the timings and the voltage, when i restart the ram speed is set back to 667 and auto. all the other settings are as i left them. barrysgoods i have found one lead, regarding the ROMSIP table updating. if you change your fsb enough that the bios recognizes it as a new cpu, the ROMSIP will update, and the settings with stay the same. this does require upping the fsb to 1600 or so to 'jolt' it a little. my problem now is that when i get a stable oc (even a very small one works now) my bios reads the speed correctly, but when i get into windows, CPUz, orthos, coretemp all read it back at stock speed. i dont understand!! help!!!!

speed step will slow a cpu down and drop voltage to save on power when you computer is not doing anything.

so if you do come across speed step disable it.
makes my overclock go unstable if i have it one.

I had the same problem with a 140x bios - updated to 1503 and it went away.

Just a random annoyance as it didn't happen for me on the 12xx bios's either.
