Ofcourse you can use a 1:2 multi, most boards feature this including a 790i. If it will give you alot of extra performance, i doubt it.

You would be looking at ram capable of 1600 mhz, pc12800.

You can unlock and run 2000 and it would yield higher memory bandwidth, but would probably not make a noticeable difference.

I'm still looking for the info that said DDR3 with newer Mobos aren't dependent on a 1:1 ratio for optimal performance... not sure if it was overclock.net or tomshardware or something...
