if you want to make quicker work of cleaning up cuts in case panels or mobo pans get yourself a couple of double-cut files for metal. A "hlaf-round" file will have a rounded side and a flat side so you can use that for everything basically. I keep a couple different sizes on hand. How do you think I get those straight free-hand dremel cuts? I file them afterwards to remove any irregularities, and take off the sharp burrs

heh, i have a variety of files too... though, i messed up so badly that it was hard to just a file, so i got like a block of wood, wrapped it in 100 grit sand paper, and sanded away until it was even. worked out pretty well. it was bit unconventional i guess, but i usually do use files, they are better at getting the burrs off. ^^,,

Day 14

why hello there! i have an update, my OC is now stable. i've OC'd it to 3.45Ghz. I'm satiated at this point for now, but when nehalem comes out, i'll be kicking this into high gear to make myself feel better about getting what i've gotten. so its not that i'm done. just for now is all.

here is the pic:

i'll have cpu-z validation up in a bit too. enjoy for now.

edit: okie dokie! so... i switched the fans to pushing down instead of pulling up. this will benefit me later, you'll see. its a surprise. anyway, i also did a reseat and i dropped down a couple C's atleast 4 on each core. and here is the pic:

and my intake fan for my rad is a noctua right now and its capable of only 54 cfm while my pana's take 86cfm each... not good so i've already ordered some higher cfm fans and that'll go in and bring in better airflow and thus lower temps! stay tuned!

edit2: WOOT! and all cores just dropped another C so its 50 and 47!! pwahaha!!!

haha.. the horrible temps are mostly my fault for how i set up the fans on my rad.... i think.. i'm thinking alot of the air that came through is sticking around in the bottom section of the case so its heating it up... but once i get a few other things, i'll be switching the direction of the fans and i'll be testing to see if the temps drop..

not only that.. my vcore is actually at around 1.35v in bios but with vdroop you can see that at load its only at 1.28v. and it has two blocks a gpu and well my cpu. and having both in one loop would also raise the temps of the water. as for my ambient, its around 23-25C. it varies throughout the day.

oh, i could get more out of it. but this is just to tide me over until nehalem is out. cause well, i'll feel like crap cause it comes out as im done building this rig. so i'm saving the hard core OC until later.

and thanks for your comments! cheers!

try using a push pull fans setup on rad makes a big difference.
