When to worry about the CPU being damaged?

What would be a core temperature for an Intel E6750 to get damaged. I am reaching 69C on Prime95.

Thats too hot, usually to be perfectly safe, under load the CPU should stand less than 60C. Normally over 75~80C can be considered critically dangerous. What cooler are you using?

I have heard that 70c or more will degrade the chip.
I generally like to keep it at 60c or lower

Ok this is odd. Let me explain this here, I am having trouble with what program to use to monitor my temperature. I listed idle and load temps below for each program I have. I listed the first core temperature since they are same because Prime95 puts 100% on each one. The load temps are after running Prime95 for 1 minute.

SpeedFan - Idle: 37C
SpeedFan - Load: 65C

CoreTemp - Idle: 40C
CoreTemp - Load: 66-67C

HWMonitor - Idle: 38C
HWMonitor - Load: 65C

RealTemp - Idle: 32C
RealTemp - Load: 58C

Intel TAT - Idle: 24C
Intel TAT - Load: 46C

I am seeing a large margin in the last two, RealTemp, and Intel TAT. Is CoreTemp correct? How can I find out?

Specifications:
Intel Core2Duo Conroe E6750 @ 3.5GHz (437 * 8) 1.416V which is dropped from 1.45V in BIOS
Xigmatek HDT-S1283
Lian-Li Case PC-65B Case (2 80mm Front, 1 80mm Top, 1 80mm Back)

I don't see why the temperatures are so high. Does this chip in particular overclock badly? Please help me.

That's a pretty considerable OC and with a stock cooler the temps make sense.

I posted that my heatsink is Xigmatek HDT-S1283.

Also, on this forum http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1032346359 someone says that conroes have a Tjunction max of 85C. I would sure hope so! Does anyone else support this or is it not true. Should I set my Tjunction max to 100C for an average?

If a CPU hits those temps its almost certain that it'll "burn" and stop working or with luck it'll still work but with major flaws.

Those readings are odd, Coretemp and speedfan are well known, in my opinion I only trust those two to check my systems temp.

You should consider to get a better cooler. I'm adding Zalman 9700NT to the list 10acjed posted.
