Conspiracy...Sure there are alot of things kept hidden from the public. As for a cure being kept secret...maybe,maybe not. Theres no point in trying to debate it though because you will never know.
Whats the point in fighting about something you do not know about . I say we should fight for what we do know about and create awareness of it. Such as Folding.
Its not just the fact that there isn't or that there is a cure for cancer and various diseases. The fact of the matter is that there are many different factors and influences that can cause diseases to mutate over a peroid of time.
For instance, if you take a look at Staphylococcus aureus and how it became resistant to penicillin (80% of cases were resistant by 1960). They had to derive other antibiotics to treat it and the first was methicillin which was introduced in 1959 and only two years later the first "strain" of resistant Staphylococcus aureus to methicillin was discovered.
The purpose of this story, even though it isn't comparable in the sense of it not being cancer, or other genetically caused diseases is that the chances of finding one cure or treatment will never exist uniformly. There will always be the need for finding alternatives to curing and treating it. Thus, the message that I wanted to convey in my story was that yes they did find a cure for Staphylococcus aureus, but after only a decade they had to find another alternative as the virus itself became immune to the cure that they found originally. Therefore, there will always be a need for more research.
I personally, fold for the cause of the research involved and for the people more importantly. I am currently in my second year of University studying Biochemistry and I plan on doing cancer research as my career afterwards.
Thanks to everyone who folds for the cause and the people
