Oh yes, loose parts in psu's are no good. With a smaller psu tho, only connect the bare minimum of peripherals to post it.

hmm, on BiosCentral: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
it says that continous beeping is memory related, but the corsair memory i got was second hand and i had seen it working in a previous machine!?
it also says: ".check for improperly seated or missing memory." i might remove the motherboard and triple check the memory is secured properly, the DHX heatshield absolutely kill my fingers!

Award BIOS Beep Codes:

Beeps

Error Message

Description
1long, 2 short: Video adapter error Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly.

Repeating (endless loop): Memory error Check for improperly seated or missing memory.

1long, 3short: No video card or bad video RAM Reseat or replace the video card.

High frequency beeps while running: Overheated CPU Check the CPU fan for proper operation. Check the case for proper air flow.

Repeating High/Low: CPU Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat. Check the CPU fan or BIOS settings for proper fan speed.

Continuous beeping, each lasting about three seconds. The beeping does not stop. Seems to be CPU related.

i checked the manual, nothing about bios maintenance, this is really baffling me, something that should be simple has turned into an absolute nightmare, i have spent almost the whole day on this and i really need to get this up and running, important coursework to do!
