The laptop ram is a different type altogether I'm afraid.
If your absolutely sure it's the ram (and having read the last 4 pages it certainly looks like that it is) I'm afraid you'd have to get a lend or buy some ram that is 1.8v default and is on your mobo's qualified vendor list (just to be safe).
I had a similar problem when I got my current mobo and cpu. My motherboard didn't support the cpu straight out of the box with the bios that came with it.
I had to buy an old processor, 30 euro for a proc that I may never use again. But should something like that ever happen again, I'll be okay cause I have it in a safe place :-).
Personally I would recommend forking out the Â£10 or so, get crucial or some brand that is very popular because it will be compatible with a large range of motherboards, so at least in the future if something like this happens you will have it just in case. Or one of your friends might have a similar problem and sell it to them.
