The very elusive and already extensively delayed GeForce 9800 GT has made a shy appearance @ Computex at ELSA's booth and now, it has been spotted in a new gaming PC from a Chinese company. Pictured below, the card is manufactured by XFX and it apparently features the same GPU, shader and memory clocks as its predecessor, the 8800 GT - 600, 1500 and 1800 MHz respectively.

Unlike ELSA's offer, the XFX GeForce 9800 GT has a single-slot cooling solution that is considerably smaller than that found on the 8800 GT which suggest that the former will be powered by a 55nm G92b chip (with 112 Stream Processors). The 512MB GDDR3-equipped card also features SLI support and requires extra power via one 6-pin connector. No word on an actual release date or price tag unfortunately. Good thing we have that Radeon HD 4850 right?

Nothing spectacular unless its priced really cheap.

Isn't the market saturated with enough VC that people won't need. I mean the 8800GT is the same price as the 4850 and the 4850 is clearly a better choice. The 9800GTX is on par with the 4850 and cost about 30.00. Now theirs the 9800GTX+ and a 9800GT. I mean come on Nvidia your market strategy is clearly flawed.

8800GT is not a competitor for the 4850 and it is not similarly priced. The 9800GTX at $199 and the 9800GTX+ at $229 are the competitors to the 4850.

Edit* Newegg shows the lowest price is $145 and $139 after MIR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE

They have one for $69.99 after MIR too I guarantee that's due to the 4850. Great deal though.

That's dumb, that better have a ridiculously low price on it. And we all know they didn't really change the core, it's still g92, they just slapped a b on the end.

Perhaps this is what NVIDIA should have done to begin with, I think the G92 should have either been the 8900 series or the 9800 series, they should have had all 24 ROPs of the G80 and came with higher clock speeds to justify it. None of this 8800GTS 512mb nonsense, you don't release a product with the same name that performs so significantly better. :S
