[TG Daily] ATI Radeon 4800 forces Nvidia to make price cuts for GTX 260, 280 - Page 3

Ye it's real funny how people treat ATI these days calling em people's company. Their strategy be it CPU or GPU market is due to small market share. Back in the say when nVidia and ATI had almost equal shares prices where equally high as well. Same goes for AMD/Intel.

Wow, those price cuts are so miniscule, they wouldn't persuade me to buy one. 4870 is by far the better price/performance choice. Obviously the gtx280 can still hold out as the better of the newer-released cards, but still, not by much.

if the 280 prices drop to $500, i'll be picking up my 4870X2 for the same price when it's released, as ATI stated it was designed to compete with the 280

AMD doesn't take it to the extremes that others do... atleast from what I've seen.
Wrong AMD is why CPU prices are so high now, Intel use to have the lower priced CPU and the FX62 was $1100 when it came out I know because I bought one. Funny thing is I got my QX6700 for the same price when it came out and it smoked the FX62
I've never owned a ATI card but wern't ATI and Nvidia's prices competitively close before the 8800GTX. Even though I prefer nvidia I'm glad ATI is doing well because it would suck to lose them just wish AMD would make a come back now.
