i bought a gigabyte x48-ds4 mother board today and i have played team fortess 2 (not the worlds hardest game)

returning this mother board to Dabs would be a big big big pain in the ass as i really want this to work

any way it thinks my cpu is 46C idle and 55 to 60C on TF2 and my whole computer has crashed about 3 times

my old mother board was 650i

why is this happening? everythign was fine before my new mobo no while system crashes nothing

im sure i have placed the thermal past i spreaded it with my finger and a plastic bag over it

In most BIOSes, there's an option that will shut down the computer if the CPU get's to a certain temperature. Either raise the temperature to something like 70c, or or completely disable it.

Also, try reseating your heat sink.

That sounds like WAY too much paste. You only need to fill in the microscopic voids between HSF and CPU.
If you could fill in your system specs we would have an easier time helping. This may have nothing to do with heat.Go to user CP at the top of the page and fill in all your specs.

Edit: You said you changed motherboards, Did you reformat? That could cause these issues. Have you changed anything else?
What operating system? XP, Vista?

You didn't respond to the rest of my post. Did you reformat?
Most likely heat is not your primary issue.
