ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Question

My question relates to the capability of the motherboard to support slowed-down DDR2-800 RAM. As most of you probably know, Tom's Hardware brought their Pentium D 805 up to 4.1GHz, but they did it by increasing the Bus Speed from 133 (Stock - 533 FSB) to 205 (Overclocked - 820 FSB). Along with voltage mods and better than stock cooling of course.

My plan is to get a good kit of DDR2-800 RAM and run it at 533 Stock (BIOS setting), so that when I start cranking up the Bus speed I'll get as close as I can to the memories rated 800MHz. However, the motherboard is rated for DDR2-667. Does this stop me from overclocking from the DDR2-533 setting further than 667?

A divider is set automatically to keep the memory and CPU in relation to each other. Unless you plan on modding this board yourself I doubt you'll run into any problems. Your memory should cap at 667 since I don't see any options in the manual to go beyond that.

I'd say you would be able to get a nice little overclock of 3.0-3.2Ghz on stock voltage.

well on stock voltage I'm able to boot at up to 3.58GHz, 3.6GHz posts but doesn't get into Windows. Still finding the maximum stable speed on stock voltages.
