I'm pretty sure 2gb has some sort of advantage.

AMD's in no position to increase manufacturing costs for no real benefit

Uhh...

My 128bit bus on the RAM can handle 2Gb, and other's have handled 8Gb, so stop talkin' fake stuff man!

It seems it's probably going to be 2x1GB, 1GB for each core. And the GDDR5 memory on a 256bit bus has about the same memory bandwidth as that of GDDR3 on a 512bit bus, remember that this RAM is running at generally double the speeds (effectively) that older cards and current NVIDIA cards are running which makes up for the 256bit bus.

Sounds great! Going to be a difficult decision on whether to pick up a 4870 or wait and grab a 4870x2. I guess I'll see how my wallet and patience are doing when I'm upgrading in a month or so

Look at that; someone actually using the correct label for memory capacity! Binary prefixes FTW? Okay maybe not but props anyway!

Why do I have this feeling this thread will end with a photoshopped 300 picture of an ATI card kicking a Geforce card into the pit of doom, screaming: "THIS IS SPARTA!" o_o;

no need for 512bit bus i think ati learned from the 2900tx time for Nvidia to learn the same

I'm tired of hearing about the news of this card. Release it faster so I can read reviews and decide.

Read this.

This is the same concept that applies to video card ram.
