I have no clue what that means, but it was fun to type
basically 256 bit bus + 512 MB VDDR5 = 448 bit bus + 512mbVDDR3 even 512 bit + 512mbVDDR3

Yes, GDDR5 on a 256-bit bus performs equally to GDDR3 (or GDDR4) on a 512-bit bus, assuming the memory clocks are the same. This is exactly the case with the Radeon 4800 series and GTX 200 series. I guess I could have just said that from the start...

is it me or does the odd # VDDR make the vid card go faster

so why wouldn't ATI run 512 bit instead of just 256? Wouldn't that just dominate the GDDR3 completely?

It's too expensive and the core will become a bottleneck unless you almost double the speed, in which case they'd have horrible yeilds.

Ati learned from the 2900XT.. a 512 bit bus costs way more then VRR5 to make and makes the chip suck more power.. time for Nvidia to learn from the 512bit
and because the vid card can't use all that bandwidth

makes sense. Thou that would be a nice Vidcard if the core was optimized for the memory.

Well I meant if everything else would be able to keep up with the 512.
