They're not the same and what proof do you have that they've "passed more rigorous testing"? Show me a gaming video card that can display 3840x2400

I was under the impression that what I said was correct. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me...I'll be happy to edit my post to avoid confusion.

There are ways to mod the 8800GTX into a Quadro. That's what you should have done. It isn't even a hardware mod.

Hind sight is 20/20.. It's easy to say, "what you should have done" when we already know the outcome.
Sorry about the GPU's man. That does suck. But at least you've learned a lot through this experience.

8600GTS - Gaming card.

The maximum resolution for that card is 2048 x 1536@85Hz. Newegg isn't always accurate in their product descriptions. None of the 8800 series cards have that resolution.

I doubt the testing is any different, as the only real difference it would make is the max clock speed while still being stable..

Either way, the main difference between the cards is the BIOS, each one being optimized for different things.

The Geforce line is optimized more for polygon rendering/transformation and texture mapping/filtering (matrix based operations).

The Quadro line is optimized more for pixel+vertex shading (vector based operations), which means faster AA, bump mapping, lighting, and shadows.

Ok, well, this?

http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...01&modelmenu=2

Asus lists it as 3840x2400 support.
