PSU for future upgrade

Thread Starter
I currently have this PSU and it's doing great.

In the future though I am looking to go with a 4870x2 and my current PSU only has two 6 pin connectors while the 4870x2 requires a 6 and 8. I have a secondary system that could use a PSU upgrade so I will put my current PSU in there.

So basically, im looking for a PSU with 6 and 8 pin connectors with plenty of power (enough for a nehalem quad and 4870x2, 750W+?) long, modular and sleeved cables would be nice also but only long cables are required (I have a rocketfish lian-li, it's huge). Could you tell me what you suggest? Also, newegg links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, LuckyX2

should have jumped on the Corsair HX1000 deal at buy.com. How about a Silverstone DA750 or DA850? Eastluna.com usually has a lower price than other places i have seen. PC P&C turbo 860 or Silencer 750 should also work well.

edit: Silencer 750
Silverston DA 750 and 850

The silencer 750 is looking really nice to me, I like the modular cables of the decathalons but am contemplating if it is worth the difference in price.

The rocketfish doesnt have much room behind the mobo tray, so modular would help.....hmmm decisions, decisions.

Either the Silencer 750 or the Corsair 750 for non-modular. The Corsair's quality is just as good as the Silencer is the better deal usually and has a quieter fan. Here are some good deals for the Corsair: here and here. For modular, that Antec is good but some other options would be the Xigmatek 750 which has bascially the same internals as the Corsair but is out of stock everywhere. The Toughpower modulars are good as well but are normally overpriced. There is a good deal on one ATM with a MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153038. Another modular option is the Zalman 750.

If you plan to have a PSU for 4870CF and last a bit longer, 750W PSU is the way to go. In fact, I would go for 850W in case some minor upgrades in near future. CM Real power series, Silverstone DA850 or Thermaltake 850W is good. Can't go wrong with one of them.
