SAMSUNG 2493HM or Acer P243WAid?

Thread Starter
So I can get the Acer P243WAid from newegg for $359 shipped or I can get the SAMSUNG 2493HM for about $100 more. I really want to save the money and put it towards my new graphics card but I wanted to get your opinions or personal experiences with these monitors. If there isn't any damning evidence for the Acer P243WAid I think I am going to pull the trigger on it.

The quality of the samsungs is higher. They have more uniform contrast. The colors are more pure and there is less of the "washed out" look. But at a price..... If you can afford the Samsung, then get it. Otherwise, the Acer is a great monitor for the price.

im trying to toss up between the 24" Samsung 2493HM and the 24" BenQ V2400W ...

currently, from where im buying from, the Samsung is about $10 AUD more than the BenQ, but the BenQ V2400W has some really great reviews. and apparently the panel on the 2493HM is pretty bad? like really hard to use.

Yes, you cannot see the menu/panel buttons at all when you have the monitor turned on. After awhile you would probably get used to where the buttons are.

How often do you touch the panel? Turn the power on and off MAYBE, I tried it out at bestbuy its not a huge deal, go for screen quality, not panel usability.

honestly, the markings on the buttons never make sense due to the multiple functions each button has. I just memorize them.

I think they could've made this monitor "perfect" if they just added lighting to the buttons. It's a problem that they should've noticed. There are some nice options you can choose from, but it seems to be more troublesome to use them than to just leave it because you end up hitting some other button(s). I shouldn't have to memorize where the buttons are on a $400 monitor! Just letting you know beforehand, don't be surprised. Otherwise, this is a great monitor!

I have the 2493 and the touch panel does suck. The monitor comes with the software that lets you do everything the panel does...so it's not a big deal. I have had it for months, and once you turn the brightness down a little and get it where you need...all you have to do is turn it on or off. Not a big deal.

I don't have much experience on those two models but I have owned 4 Acer LCD monitors and 2 Samsung LCD monitors. I have to admit, the Samsung stuff looks better and has a cleaner fit/finish than the acer monitors in my opinion. The Samsungs seem to have less back light bleed issues, warmer picture, and better viewing angles. Take it for what it is worth as these are comparable 22inch models that are less than 5 months old. (AL2223w vs 220WM)

After my experiences with both companies, I would go with the Samsung if I were in your shoes.

Hey quick question, sorry to steal your thread.

Which one is better the 2493 or the new T240 (ToR version with 20k dynamic) coming out?
