[TT]NVIDIA decides to take up DX 10.1 challenge - Page 4

I still haven't seen anything official of Blizzard going 10.1. At WWI DIII Project Manager answered question regarding DX version "Will DIII use DX9 or D10" and he said that they won't use any DX, but rather use their own custom API.

Ok wow. You got that totally wrong. They are using a custom 3d game engine. They are NOT making a custom 3d run time API.

Dx9 is still the coolest API to program with
It has been already on Assassins Creed, and let the 3850/3870 see some nice performance boost with the same level of graphics as regular directX 10. However Nvidia didnt like that and pressured them to remove it in a patch.

If he had 2GB of video memory total, that means he would have 1GB (1GB per card) to render with, not 512.

The HD3870x2 splits it's 1GiB to allow for each core to have a full 512MiB. Four 512MiB GPUs in CF only allow 512MiB for rendering.

Ah, whoops. I thought he had 2x3870 with 1GB of memory . You are correct.

When I open my design of a future consumer product with currently 200+ parts and assemblies the whole thing slows it was worse with only 768mb(8800GTX).

Nothing can stop the continuum...not even the recession/depression we headed for.

Progress sees no frontiers........except time.
Video cards can and should get better - but not at the rate they are right now. It's completely unnecessary. Unless you're the kind playing on a 2k + resolution.

If anything, more workstation video cards should be developed for CAD developers.
