I'm sorry, what? Samsung are known for making the best panels out there. The Dells I have that use Samsung panels are great, and everyone with a samsung panel I have seen have loved them.

Note that I plan to get the Samsung, but the BenQ has some well-written user reviews here at HardOCP. It's a deal where five people were given free monitors in exchange for in-depth reviews, and so far four have been posted. They all have thorough coverage if the BenQ is one you're seriously looking at.

cheers mate.

but i went with the Samsung 2493HM.

after cashback, it was only $51 more than the BenQ V2400W, and personally i prefer Samsung so went with the gut instinct.

FYI

i got my Samsung 2493HM today and can honestly say im 100% satisfied with my purchase.

this thing is awesome, the colours are unbelievably strong. its very bright, but i love it.

the panel, well...seems as though reviews dont lie. i need my little mag light torch to see what the actual buttons are for...will get used to it eventually. but hardly worth crying about when you have visual quality of this standard.

im stoked.

I wouldn't trust reviews entirely. The monitor I have had the best reviews of any 24" monitor (-£600 with HDMI) and i'm not satisfied with it. The pro with BenQ is that it's very rare for them to get dead pixels; I read lots of reviews and can't recall anything to do with dead pixels whereas with other brands it's more common. Just never buy a ViewSonic monitor as the one I had had several dead pixels, really bad ghosting and made a very loud buzzing noise all the time.

yeah my mate bought the 28" Viewsonic, rushed into it coz he wanted the biggest monitor out of everyone lol, he paid almost $400 more than what its really worth, its got a dead pixel and yeah, the colours are not nearly as strong as Samsungs.

with the reviews, what i was saying was they were all correct in that every review i read said that the panel on the 2493HM was a real pain in the arse to use, its touch sensitive and even in the best lighting, you cant see what the buttons are for coz they dont have a backlight. pretty stupid, but like i said, hardly worth complaining about.

you set the settings up once, dont really need to touch them again.
