45nm use less power, produce less heat, and can tolerate more. BUT - they cannot handle as much VCore

65nm CPU's have a core 65nanometers in size. 45nm CPU's have a core 45nanometers in size. 45's have a smaller core, which means, less power consumption, less hear dissipation etc etc. 65's can handle higher voltages than the 45's.

~In layman's terms!

I hope you're not trying to say that a 65nm CPU has an area of 65nm? 65/45nm is the size of the space in between the transistors.

then a E7200 would do well for an upgrade from what i had before?

How could I mistaken a 2" CPU as being 65/45nm. I know it is the space b/w the transistors. But to keep it simple, I just said its the size of the core/die since the transistors are inside it. A bit stupid of me actually!

So yeah, its the space b/w the transistors in the CPU's core!

The e7200 should be fine. Taking advantage of P45 and 9.5 cpu multi, you should push it around 3.7G/3.8G. It should handle 4850 well.
