Low 4850 3DMARK score - Page 3

Thread Starter
I don't think I can afford a PSU at the moment, my job is getting laid off, and I'm hearing my department will be gone, so I might want to start saving, and get a new job. Now if someone wouldn't mind sending me a PSU, then that would be fine

well, i get about 10k too, I cant really overclock with this board. if i go any higher then 300 FSB it will crash too often and upping the voltage doesn't help.

lol.....id love to help you out

but without doubt the biggest problem you have there is the board ...IMO
some are sceptical ...but that's what i reckon

as for the PSU .....just check the one in my sig..

its a bag of manure ....cost £20 shipped...lol & it runs my H/W just fine OC & all.. ive had a multimeter on it & all voltages are solid
so cheap PSUs are not all that bad
but its still a possibility

The Ultra should be fine with the OP's rig. The CPU is a bigger problem.

To the OP you NEED to flash your card , they are undervolted (even more than usual )
on the Vtek version , but its better in the long run . I can run 775/ 1025 on what is normally stock volts 1.158 in bios , this gives me 14k in 3d06 but I know my real score is at least 5 k higher that test is bunk for 4series cards , it doesnt challenge them AT ALL ,
Go run a ultra 4x AA crysis bench on your gts and then 4850 and I bet it owns the 8800

I think you made a great purchase you just dont realize it yet.

What BIOS do you suggest to flash to DJS? I'm looking for one too. Please provide link if you can.

I am using the latest bios from forum member Barrelrydrer over at xs
It can be found in the breaking 700 barrier on 4850 thread towards the last 3 pages , its a long post with lots of research in it , really a great read.

He did some great work with this bios and really nailed it down both 2d /and 3d
