SLI 9800GTX WITH A GTX 260 or 280 - Page 2

Only Crossfire can mix different cards, but it has to be with the same series. (i.e. 4xxx cards can only crossfire with 4xxx cards.)

Would love to see the Leadtek Extreme in SLI.
You beat me to it. Notice they said SINGLE CARD and not Tri-Sli. Its still pretty good Tri-Sli Crysis 30" V.High but what I really want to see is CrossifreX 4870x2 at the above settings with max AA.

thank you all so much for your replies ... sorry I meant to fix up my sig to have my computer info in it b4 ... going to do so in a few minutes here...

Ive only ever heard bad things about the BFG trade up program... people getting ripped off not sure which way to go.

Regardless I think I will just buy a 2nd 9800gtx... im not all that fond of crysis anyway (acutally its more like ive played it 4 or 5 times through and its just getting old lol)

So I suppose the real question now is:

What power supply would be best (and preferable under 100 dollars) to do SLI with a pair of 9800GTX's?

And lastly - I have a Antec Earthwats 650 Watt PSU - It doesnt say its SLI capable .... Im guessing i will need a new one ... any recommendations?
for two 9800GTX the 650W may do the trick if you have the power requirements from the +12V.. you would need either +12V 1 & +12V 2 @ 24A each. Or a single +12V @ 50A

And What motherboard / cpu / MEm do you have??? makes a big dif.. **edit** missed that post..

If you have a good 680i/750i/780i then just get another 9800gtx

if you need a new mobo to SLI on, then maybe a 4870 would be better right now... **edit** get a 4870

ANTEC EarthWorks EA 650W - if thats ur PSU, your OK to SLI on it

Here's the PSU I would suggest. A little out of your stated budget $134 after MIR but from all the reviews I have seen a great PSU. The only down side is the cables are not modular. PC_Power_and_Cooling

In for a penny in for a pound go for it. You already said your upgrading everything else. Do you really use water cooling currently?

lol, I wish. I'll focus on that more once all the nice stuff is in. But that card with the block is ready for it.
I suppose I could just buy the waterblock later on huh? lol 180$

I fixed my machine info in the control panel - im using a Asus p5k3 deluxe which can easily do sli (has 2 pci-e slots) so I figure its good enough ... its a awesome board using ddr3 i must say ddr3 does seem to be a major improvement over ddr2...

regardless I will try the 650 watt psu that i have now w/ a 2nd 9800gtx... I need 2 6-pin PCI Express power plugs... which i know for a fact this doesnt have...

Do adapters exist to make one of the 12v plugs (like you use for a case fan - not sure what its called lol) switch into a pci-e power plug...

PS
If anyone would kindly school me on what the names for each of these plugs is Id greatly aprecieate it
