Wow...be prepared for some recuperatory time. I've had two surgeries (lamenectomies) and it was worse than the condition....

Lol well whenever i finally get an op i will be in hospital for 1 week (im going to have a lot of catching up to do when i get out!!!) and then recovery is anywhere from a month +

but the lucky thing is im only 18 so the op should be a lot easyer as im a lot more supple and recovery time shouldnt bee toooo bad

Lol no i dont at the moment

Well all went well at the hospital although they were 2.5 hours late talking to me but oh well....

I am going to go ahead with the op as there is only a 0.3%chance of paralysis. I had some more x rays taken today and had to book in for an mri scan of my back to check everything is ok to operate on and then i will have the op probably in about january.

With this procedure it means that the section of spine that is having the two metal rods placed in wont be able to bend but that shouldnt limit me too much.

There are two ways they could do the op the first is from the front where they only use 1 metal rod but to do it they have to break open one for the ribs and deflate the lung this means that my lung will never be able to get back up to full capacity and seeing as i would like to run a marathon in the next couple of years i want as much lung capacity as possible...

So they are going from the back which means they put a metal rod on either side of the spine and remove the joints on the spine so that the metal rods dont snap

With the op i stay in hospital for 1 week (im going to have a hell of a lot of catching up to do on all the forums when i get back from that) and i should be walking within that week and then i go home and i will learn my new balance and will be able to do most things within 4 -6 weeks and a full recovery should be made within 3 -6months
