Brand new Laptop M51S Overclocking problems. HD3470 - T8100 Dualcore Help!

Thread Starter
Hi, ive recently bought a new laptop. Asus M51S laptop. For specifications look at the bottom of this thread.
Ive spend a whole day, allmost 10 hours, searching for any solution to overclock the CPU & The VGA. But nothing worked.

After allmost 5 hours i suceeded to overclock the VGA with powerstrip. Ive overclocked the following:

Standard:
Engine: 681
Memory 499
Mark06 Score: 1306

Overclocked

Engine : 857
Memory: 643
Mark06 Score 1316

Howcome that with such a big VGA Overclock the 3dmark06 score diffrence only was 10 points? Thats redicilous.

I thought maybe the Processor was a big bottleneck. I searched for a program that i can use to overclock the processor. Ive tried every overclock program but with all programs the chipset i use, ICHI8-ME (PM965) isnt supported or isnt in the list.

Is this laptop to new? Does vista 32bit support OCÃ*ng? Anyone help because im out of options!!.

My Question: Is it Possible to Overclock this laptop? If Yes How. Thanks.

Information:

Programs i've used for VGA:

Atitool 0.20
Atitool 0.21
Atitool 0.22
Atitool 0.24
Atitool 0.25B
Atitool 0.26
Atitool 0.26B
Atitool 0.27B
Powerstrip
Revatuner

Programs ive used for CPU:
CPU'z
cpuFSB
Clockgen (This one is the best until so far, only the chipset isnt supported, Ive tried them -All-)
SetFSB
SpeedFan
CPUMSR
Bios (isnt supporting Vcore raising, FSB raising no overclock support here)

Laptop Information:

Asus M51Sseries

Chipset: PM956
Southbridge: 82801HBM (ICHI8-ME)
CPU: Duo T8100 2.10GHZ 3MB LVL2 Cach

Then why i get only 10 points? Maybe the Tool is telling that its overclocked but it actualy isnt? I'm now going to spin 3dmark06 @ Overclocked ageain to make sure that i didnt made any mistakes.

EDIT: Its 100% that the diffrence is only 10 points. Ive saved the logs and the 2nd log tels that the Core and memory are overclocked.

Clock speed is pretty crucial in gaming, I think, and im not 100 percent that your low clock speed may have a severe effect on your performance. perhaps it is a bottleneck scenario. Let me do a bit of research for you and Ill see what I can come up with.

Ok so I did a little bit of research and yes I believe that your laptop is a bit too new unfortunately for any program to support your chipset, the current revision of clockgen is from 9/12/2007. The good news is that there are two gaming laptops on the market, one made by alienware and the other by Gateway that have the same chipset as you and they mention in the reviews that they are overclockable so its only a matter of time before there is a program that allows you to overclock your laptop. So the answer to your question of whether or not your laptop can be overclocked is no, at least not yet. You will have to wait for a program to support your chipset, being that its a newer chipset that could take a while.

Well that 10 points you got in 3dmark might equate to a few fps

Ive been playing Cabal, some online RPG. Another RPG called Secondlife. And thats basicly it. But i can run both smooth. I'm on vacantion atm and this internet has a download limit so i cant download allot of games. But i think i will have around a score of 2200-2400 if i overclock this laptop good on 3dmark 06.
