need help with low fps in WoW on 8600GT

Thread Starter
Hey everyone, im new to this forum and i need help desperately! I keep getting 5-10fps in WoW and i only get 60fps when the CPU/GPU sort of heats up (i can hear the fan getting louder) after 1-2 hours of play.

After the CPU/GPU heats up, i can constantly enjoy 60-64fps UNTIL i turn it off and play again the next day. it will be down to 5-10 Fps every 2-3mins of play.

My specs are:

AMD 64x2 6000+ @3014Mhz
2gb ram
8600GT 512mb drivers 6.14.11.7516
450 PSU (i think?)
ASUS M2N-X Plus

My mates say i need more PSU for 8600GT? im not sure, please advise me guys. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Try running at stock first of all - there's the possibility your system is unstable in some way

add your whole system specs in the user cp - up the top

hmm, are you running alot of peripherals?

psu shouldn't have anything to do with it. unless it is failing. can you double check the wattage please.

Go into the BIOS, and choose the option Load Optimized Defaults, and then Save

Is it only in WoW that it happens or does it happen in other games also?

How long has it been doing this for? Did it just suddenly start happening?

You could try reinstalling drivers - uninstall the current graphics drivers, run Driver Cleaner to get rid of any traces, then download the latest ones from the nVidia website
