73 Degrees Idle!!

Thread Starter
So I decided to download coretemps on my laptop (with a T7400 @ 2.16 Ghz) just to see what it was. It's reading 73 degrees idle!!! My laptop is incredibly hot to touch all the time, and when playing games it usually shuts down after about half an hour so I figure this is why. Is coretemps reading correctly? Any help would be great to solve this problem!

Okay so I guess it's not just me... stupid laptops. It freaks me out when i see the absolute max for a q6600, for example, is 71 and I'm idling higher than that.

laptops are designed to operate at higher temps. If its over 100C, then you should worry.

If you want to crack it open and replace the TiM, it may help a bit as Xx573v3xX_Z28 suggested. Are your air intakes obstruction free? I know my laptop shuts down due to high temps when someone plops it on their lap and clogs the intakes.

I've never tried one of those laptop coolers... I've heard both good and bad things about them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...cooler&x=0&y=0
