where to get thermal tape? - Page 2

Thermal tape is great for ram, ram on video cards, and other spots like mosfets where contact might be harder to achieve with just simple paste.
Use paste for all processors (like gpu or cpu) You can use tape on the nb or sb, since it makes little difference.

And how thin is it?
Yes, and it's very thin. Looks like scotch tape, just a bit thicker. It does not hold as well as a thermal adhesive, but that is a good thing if you ever need to take the heatsinks off.

There was another who sells them cheaper but he's sold out.
Is there something smaller and cheaper.... or do you guys know where I can get some at a retail shop (best buy?).

50 meters of that stuff is way overkill.

BTW, what's so bad about 2 sided scotch tape? I can't see how this thermal tape has better heat conducitivy than regular sotch tape.

I have several rolls of 3M 8810 and 8805 (0.1 and 0.05 mil) thermal tape. PM me what you need and your address; I'll cut some off and mail it to you for free.

It is the material they make it out of. TIM tape has a conductive material like ceramic or silver embedded in the matrix. Scotch tape is made of cellulose, or worse PET plastic which are poor heat conductors.

If you just need a small amount- like what would fit in a regular envelope I have no problems sending from the US to the UK free of charge. Donations accepted VIA paypal to cover *edit: international* shipping. PM if you're interested.

Anywhere in the US I can send it for $0.42 so don't even worry about it, just PM the address and I'll mail it. Just passing along the freebies I got from 3M.
