First Build...What do you think?

...hope I got this in the right section :/

A friend of mine helped me put pretty much all of this stuff together, was gonna ask you guys what you think of it, and is there anything that isn't compatible?

Oh, and I intend for it to be a strong gaming desktop....I hope at least.

Case - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX

MB - DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Video Card - HIS Hightech H487F512P Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

Power Supply - PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V

Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core

Memory - mushkin XP ASCENT 2x2gb

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB

DVD Drive - SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223F - OEM

Comes to a grand total of $1,091.92 w/o shipping.

I don't have the biggest budget in the world, but I can be pretty flexible with a lot of this stuff, so any and all recommendations and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

Nice setup.

The only thing I urge you to change is the RAM. Not that GeIL is a bad brand, but it seems like that they're withdrawing from the US market, and support will be from Taiwan (imagine international shipping for an RMA).

I'd get something like this G.Skill kit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231184

You'll hear people arguing for you to get an E8400 instead of the quad... well, either is a great PSU. If you like to overclock beyond reason, then yes, get the E8400 (should be 4.0GHz without too much trouble). If you are just looking for a mild overclock and excellent allround performance, the Q6600 is your pick.

Oh, and that hard drive is a bit old. Get a 7200.11 if you insist on Seagate, or a Western Digital 320GB AAKS drive.

I'll definitely check into the different memory.

...speaking of memory, I forgot to ask, can that MB take 8gb or more memory, and if so, would it be better to get 2 4gb's or 4 2gb's?

Thanks for the help.

The mobo can address 8GB of RAM, and that's it. Even though 2x4GB would theoretically be the better solution imo, it's out of the question given the price. Newegg only has one 2x4GB kit, and that'll cost you $539.99:

Nice? Yes. Worth the money? Heck no!

i am not sure this is relevant... but if you are thinking of overclocking, you should consider a aftermarket CPU cooler. one i would suggest at budget is the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283

@ Chozart - Thanks for the info...I'll probably just stick with the 2 2gb's then, and wait for the price to drop a bit.

@ k1t - With my limited level of experience, I don't think I'll be overclocking anytime soon, but I'll keep the CPU cooler in mind.

Thanks again.

The Western Digital 320GB AAKS drive is a very good one.

Are you able to squeeze a 24" Monitor into the budget?

@ Syrillian - Most of the 24" monitors I've seen on newegg are over 100 USD more than the 22" monitors; its a bit much for 2 extra inches. I won't be buying the monitor anytime soon though, so I'll see what the prices are then.
