P5b Dlx - E8400

Hi, im writing here to get a little help - since I havent been doing much OCing since I had a AMD T-Bird back in the days

Just got an E8400 and was hoping to do a little OCing on it. Looks like things have changed the past years and the bios looks very complex so im afraid something will burn up and die if I push the wrong buttons

CPU-Z dump
http://www.dagthomasolsen.com/cpuz.htm

All I've done is just push the FSB to 350 without changing anything else. Ram is at 1.8v, CPU is auto ( says 1.3v, tad bit high? )

I have the P5B DLX mobo with "P5B-ASUS-Deluxe-1226.ROM" bios currently installed.

The CPU is E8400 6-7-6-6-17-C0 @ 350fsb
The Memory is Geil Ultra 1GBx2 DDR2 PC6400 800MHz 4-4-4-12 2.1v

And is now at 437.5 mhz, 4:5 5-6-6-15 2T @ 1.8v

The only thing I've changed is the FSB till now - and I want a little help regarding what values to change in order to raise the effect of my CPU/MEM.

Found a pic what the OC stuff looks like on the P5B: P5B Bios

Any help is welcome

- Dee

PS: Temps @ 24C ambient with this setup is - CPU: 36c(96f) idle, System 32C(91f) idle.

You're at almost 4.0Ghz now if your multi is set at 9.Just don't exceed 1.36vcore on that chip.

So no worries upping the mem voltage to 2.1, and keep pushing the fsb?

Oki, so little update. Almost did something horrific too.. Or.. I kinda did. Forgot to set vcore in bios, and booted up and loaded xp with 1.51vcore :/ Anyways, was quick to pull the plug and its down to 1.304v now, operating at 3780mhz, 1680 fsb and 1:1 420mhz memory.

Stresstesting atm with Orthos, been going at it for 10 mins now all ok - how long do you run these tests?

Dunno how far I can push the FSB - will I then have to go over 2.1v for the memory? They are stated at 2.1v from the factory ( reading off the chips ) - how far can I push them? and should I stop at 4050mhz?

Core temps are up to 38/44C after 20 mins.

The screen went blank after 28 minutes of testing, guess some settings has to be adjusted.

Sorry for making a whole diary here

Its 50 mins into Orthos now @ 3.6ghz, 400x9. Is it the Vcore i need to up in order to get more mhz out of the thing, or the memvolt? Its at 1:1 mem now, 400, and I have had it at 437 before at 1.8v. Now its 400@2.1v Since its 1:1 it could be at 1.8 since it worked anyhow right? So the vcore is what I need to focus on, or any of the other fsb volt, northbridge etc?

When i dropped it to 400x9 it went for about 55 minutes before it resulted in a blackscreen.

I guess the CPU needs more juice?
