Make Your games (And Progs) Run Faster...

Thread Starter

I stumbled upon this, (No, I didn't make it, i'm not gonna take credit for it).
It's a video of how to ("Refer To Title")

It shoes you to make a new shortcut (Batch file) that tells your computer to run it at a higher priority. Apparently you can gain about 5-15 FPS.

Oh, and to see your FPS in-game, or if you want to see third person view (like in commercials) ,just make a new shortcut to "crysis.exe" and add -DEVMODE, e.g.
(4 me) "C:\\Program Files\\Electronic Arts\\Crytek\\Crysis\\Bin32\\Crysis.exe" -DEVMODE

Your FPS (and some other things) are displayed in the top right-hand corner.
To view third-person just press F1, Good Luck!

P.S.
PM me (or reply) if this helps you (Or if it works for you, did for me, got a few more FPS, with more system load), i want to know!

What a complicated way to do that... Just go into taskmanager and right click on the process and set it to High... Although, this makes the game do that automatically!

That's right, it's a one-time operation!

Plus, I also included the devmode part, so you can see in third-person.
Unfortunately, you can't have both devmode and the .bat file in one shortcut, pity...
Guess you'll just have to use Task Manager for devmode. (But really, if you're just looking at it, like you really need that good FPS?)

Cool! I will have to give this a go when I get home.

Does putting -DEVMODE work for other games also?

Thanks for the post. +rep

I'm sure there are other games that use -DEVMODE, but a lot of them don't. Some have a developer's mode and they use a different .exe argument to access it.

There is a registry key you can tweak to allow all progams in the foreground to use realtime CPU...

Not to sure, this might be the same key for other games, but it doesn't apply to all...
If you want, just make shortcuts and try it, or GOOGLE IT N00B!

What is it then, I think we'd all like to know! (I would )

Ahh well, some you win some you lose,,, Have you tried it with other games? Besides, that's 1-3 FPS you didn't have before, you didn't lose anything. At least it will 'Ever so slightly better' than B4!
I never said it was an uber miracle, it can just help you better utilize your system. For me when running Crysis i noticed (On my G15 mark2) that i was never using more than 70% of my processor, so i wanted to see if I could load it a bit more.

FFS, For The Love Of God don't anyone say "It's your graphics card you need to overclock to get better game performance", well Duhh...
However doing this may help with load times and other parts, it did for me.
