Ive recently upgraded my mobo to one with only one IDE, so i have to move my IDE drives to our router...

we have one athlonxp3200 1gbram, as a gateway ive installed my 4 200gb IDE drives on here, then we all connect (5of us) through a cisco 24port gbit switch.

Now what im wanting to do is share them on the network without letting anone else delete stuff - bearing in mind others have access to the gateway machine is there a way to do this?

cheers all

This is pretty easy mag. Just setup the drives to be shared. Then under the security settings you'll have to setup 5 accounts. These 5 accounts will be the usernames for each of the 5 PC's that you have in your network (you PC, plus the 4 PC's for your friends). For the 4 accounts that are other peoples PC's you'll give read\\write access to the drives. This will allow those users to view\\save to those 4 HDD's, and on your account you'll give full modify access. This will mean that you're the only person who can change files already on the drive (other users could only add new files, not delete or change existing).
