Q660 G0 OC'ing attempts - Page 3

The Q6600 goes past 4.0Ghz with enough cooling...

I have two processors at my house. Both Q6600s and the VIDs are 1.2875v and 1.3000v (the one on my rig). If I get the processor with the lower VID, how much further will my overclock be.

The VID doesn't mean one will definitely overclock further than the other, it just means it has a higher probability to. I would use the 1.28 one just because it'll require less voltage which means you'll be able to oc higher than the 1.3v one.... in theory anyways.

Mem 1.9
nForce SPP 1.5
NF200 Auto

I have tried to get it on 3.4, but as soon as i start running Prime 95 the computer freezes, no BSOD's though. That was on 8*425, with timings of 5-5-5-15 2T.

I've gone back to 3.3 (9*367), and im stable at the moment, and my temps at full load are 48,50,49,51, Mobo at 32.

Any thoughts/advice/opinions on that?

Cheers

Could just be the limit of the cpu...

Also are you running linked/synced mode? with mem on auto and running it at its native 1066 it puts the ratio off and does add strain to the motherboard..
l/s will put it at a 1:1 ratio, which will underclock ur mem, but may help stability..

If your staying at current settings, id say try lowering your vcore if possible. And give the vdroop mod a try.. Its a pencil mod so its easily reversable, just erase... and even tho it didnt really increase my OC, it droped my bios voltage a bunch, i was at 1.49 bios/1.46 windows. Now at 1.46 bios/1.43 windows. Load voltage has stayed at 1.41.. For me the less voltage/heat for 24/7 use the better.. Even tho it may have no real bearing, i feel better about it

Ill try the 1:1 ratio, I have brought my voltage down to 1.45 and I think it can come down a lil more, gonna do some stress testing first. Ill do some research into the mod.

Cheers for the help
