I know where you have been. Remember the Socket 939 days? I bought myself an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, a $210 motherboard at the time. Damn chipset fan died after 12 months. I thought, "oh, just a fluke" and contacted ASUS. They sent me a replacement fan for free, first class mail. I had to take everything out of my case to undo the chipset heatsink's tiny little clips. Put in the new one and everything started working great, for about six months. Then the second chipset fan died.
ASUS was kind enough to send out another one, free. After the third chipset died, I went out and bought a HR-05 SLI and an 80mm fan. I was tired of a $0.25 chipset fan causing me three hours of work every few months. I didn't stop buying ASUS because of it though. Their customer service was excellent and provided me with a fix (though it wasn't great one) for the time.
So the moral of the story is, don't give up on HIS for one small fan problem, it happens on a lot of products. Contact customer support and tell them the fan died, they should offer you to replace the fan, or possibly even a new card.
